LONGSHOT 2025

Dear Colleagues,
We are delighted to present the news service and a handful of information about this year’s LONGSHOT competition.

  • Following a major review of the original 2024 rules and taking into account a range of feedback from competitors, we are making some significant changes to the divisions. The main changes are a return to specifying the calibres that can be used in each division and the maximum weight of the rifle.
  • The changes to the maximum permitted calibre also apply to HISTORICAL rifles.
  • To meet the needs of some participants, we introduce the calibration of disputed bullet holes by the maximum calibre used in a given division. We have adopted the solution of determining the calibre in the metric system.
  • A ban on the use of spotting scopes has been introduced in the PRODUCTION division.
  • The possibility for a competitor to replace a “misfire” has been introduced.
  • The possibility for a competitor to use non-factory fitted multi-functional muzzle devices has also been included in the rules.

Finally, we are delighted to announce that this year’s LONGSHOT competition is once again under the honorary patronage of the Minister of National Defence.
