Rules of the MILITARY LONGSHOT 2024 shooting competition

MILITARY LONGSHOT competition includes shooters from military units

Objectives of the competition

The main objectives of the competition are to promote long-distance rifle shooting, to share experience and to integrate the military and sport shooting communities. The competition aims at increasing officers’ and soldiers’ competence as well as at promoting long-distance shooting among civilians. During the competition the best shooter and the best shooting team will be determined.  

Competition organiZer

The event is organised by SKSP DELTA in cooperation with CS Nietoperek and DGRSZ and 17th Mechanised Brigade „Wielkopolska” and OSPWL Wędrzyn.

Competition date and location

26-28.04.2024 Shooting range in OSPWL Wędrzyn, near Gorzów Wielkopolski.

Competition

Weapon: centre fire rifle, cal: from .222 to .500.
Divisions: TACTICAL STANDARD, TACTICAL MAGNUM, TACTICAL SUPERMAGNUM.
Ammunition: It is absolutely forbidden to use tracers, armour piercing and incendiary bullets, and any other bullets which are forbidden in sport shooting.
The weapon must be on regular military equipment!
There will be no sighter shots!

The general classification is based on the sum of  points gained in the first, the second and the third round.

Competition for SUPERMAGNUM division:

Shooting procedure
  • After an oral signal the competitors take their positions and prepare for shooting.
  • On the „LOAD” command the competitors load and insert magazines into their weapons.
  • On the „START” command the competitors start shooting, according to the procedure outlined above.
  • On the „STOP – UNLOAD” command the competitors unload their weapons and allow the referee to check the rifle.
  • Each shot before the „START” signal or after the „STOP” signal will result in DQ! (disqualification).
  1. The competitor shoots at one target only, following the procedure appropriate for the first, the second or the third round, using always the same weapon that was previously declared. The start of the competitor in additional equipment class requires the re-registration and possession of an additional weapon corresponding to the technical requirements of the given class.
  2. The rifle may be supported by (not attached to) any object brought on range by the competitor. It is permitted to use e.g. backpacks or containers as support. The whole additional equipment (without the rifle and ammunition) must weigh less than 8 kg. The equipment is subject to the referee’s control.
    a. It is permitted to use front support – bipod.
    b. It is permitted to use rear support, both original equipment and one attached by the  competitor – e.g. monopod, used in order to enhance the stability of the rifle.
    c. The front and rear support of the rifle may be connected only by means of the stock.
  3. On the firing position the competitor may have only the number of rounds specified for one string. Bringing any additional ammunition to the firing position will result in disqualification. (DQ!)
  4. Malfunction of the rifle or ammunition is the competitor’s concern.
  5. The weapon is brought onto the firing position in a weapon bag or case. If the competitor wishes to use it as support for the rifle, it will be subject to weighing together with the rest of the equipment.
  6. On the firing position the competitor may have only the number of rounds specified for one string. Bringing any additional ammunition to the firing position will result in disqualification. (DQ!)
  7. Any check-ups and repairs can be performed only in the designated SAFETY AREA.
  8. It is forbidden to bring live, blank or dummy ammunition to the safety area. Not adhering to this rule will result in disqualification.(DQ!)
  9. Moving around the shooting range with a rifle is allowed only when it is stored in a weapon bag or case.
  10. In debatable cases the final decision belongs to the main referee.    
Classification
  •  Individual.
  • Team. Teams consisting of two competitors (the sum of points gained by the team in one division).
Awards
  • Places 1-3 cups.
  • Places 1-6 diplomas.

Other matters
  1. Weapons allowed in „TACTICAL STANDARD” division: central fire rifle, cal: .223; 5,45×39; 7,62×39; 308WIN; 7,62x53R (7,62x54R).
  2. In „TACTICAL STANDARD SEMI-AUTO” the following calibres of rifles are permitted: 222 – 458.
  3. Weapons allowed in „TACTICAL MAGNUM” division: central fire rifle, cal: 338 Lapua Magnum; 300 Winchester Magnum. and muzzle bullet energy of 4 500 – 10 000 J.
  4. Weapons allowed in „TACTICAL SUPERMAGNUM” division: central fire rifle cal: 408, 416, 50 BMG. and muzzle bullet energy of over 10 000 J.
  5. Whole equipment used by TACTICAL division shooters has to be tactical. In case of doubts, the Match Director makes the final decision.
  6. Each army unit can register one team in every division.
  7. In case of the same number of points obtained after the last shooting, the organizer conducts a play-off.
  8. Scoring rules are in accordance with ISSF regulations.
  9. Competitors have the right to lodge an objection against the final results of the competition within one hour of their announcement. Objections lodged after this period will not be considered.
